Ann: Mr. Cummings, sorry to be so long in getting to you.
Rep. Cummings: I understand, Ann, it is sometimes hard to recalibrate the energy frequencies when going from one part of life to another.
I asked for some space on your blog because I see the horror of the gathering debacle of our retreating administration, and I think many are coming to see that it will not be easy to recalibrate to a more open and faithful frequency. As you know, recalibration is always a challenge.
The depth and breadth of the depravity and faithlessness of Trump and his followers has yet to be revealed, but that very depth will be our saving grace.
Some, though not all, of his faithful followers will pull back from the abyss, will see the betrayals perpetrated on the country in such a manner so thoughtless as to take your breath away and finally say no more, they cannot see the country out in this fashion. They will see the deep and permanent destruction that will be wrought and realize that there must be a change of course. Others will stay the course to try to keep power in their hands no matter the cost.
Horror and disaster shine a light on what we are doing like nothing else would or could. Do not despair when you see the relentless unfolding – and it will take time – of these horrors like a slow motion train.
These are the gifts that will prevent our further slide into depravity and demagoguery. Not all will pull back but enough will shake their heads in disbelief and draw a few lines in the sand, and those lines will be a good start to a conversation about who we are and who we want to be.
Give thanks for that which illumines – even if it destroys in the process, for sometimes nothing else will sound the alarm.
And then, when our attention is held by those who do not truck in cruelty and conspiracy theories, those whose stock in trade is trust and transparency, then, then we will be able to begin to heal. Keep the faith, my friends, it will happen.

Today is the 5th of Jan. Tomorrow is the 6th, a pivotal day when we see just how far the GOP has given over of themselves to the evilness of Trump. I came here early this morning to reassure myself again that this too shall pass. I thank God for you Ann and this blog and all who speak to us in our time of divine need. Thank you Mr. Cummings I needed to hear this today. When this was posted just before Christmas who knew even just a few short weeks ago how much worse things were still to come but there is only tomorrow to get through and then I really feel if the worst isn't over with…
