You cain’t wait on someone to save you.
You gots to step up and make it happen.
Ann: Auntie?
Harriet Tubman: Yes ma’am. I am right hear by yo side, don’t you evah let me heah you thinkin’ 'bout givin’ up. That ain’t no way to praise the Lord.
He done give us this life, this life that is precious in His sight, and He ain’t just sittin’ around a’wishin’ and a’hopin’ that we do right with it. He’s a’standin’ there with His sword and His shield ready to go into battle if only he can scare up an army to fight on His behalf and on behalf of all that he created.
And that’s what we got do right not. You been cryin’ and wondrin’ why we lost all them great people all in a short space of time. Johnny McCain, Elijah Cummings, John Lewis, and now Ruthie Ginsburg. It don’t seem fair, do it?
Well, now, fair is exactly what it is. Fair is letting them over-achievers take a break while we step up, not to fill their shoes, but to walk in some of our own and make our own tracks. It’s our time now, not theirs. They done their part, now we gots to do ours.
You cain’t wait on someone to save you. You gots to step up and make it happen. No since sittin’ around cryin’ over spilt milk, we got work to do. Get out there and exercise your God-given right to vote before you lose it to those thieves in this administration and that happy band of good-for-nothings in the Congress.
I cain’t tell you exactly what to do but in your community, in your state, and in this country, there’s plenty of opportunities. We done lost our leaders. Now it’s our time to show them what we got. I don’t know ‘bout you, but I love a good fight.
